In general, speech professionals such as speech pathologists and corporate speech pathologists should have prior training in using the International Phonetic Alphabet and meet a minimum of one of the following:

1. Have a Masters degree (or minimum of 3 years experience practicing in Speech-Language Pathology)
2. Be a certified ESL teacher for a minimum of 3 years
3. Have taken a college level phonetics course

How do I receive Continuing Education credits for attending a workshop? -

How do I receive Continuing Education credits for attending a workshop?

In general, participants of the Compton P-ESL workshop will receive 1.5 CEUs (15 hours) and Marketing Essentials workshop participants will receive .7 CEUs (7 hours) from ASHA. However receiving continuing education credit is based on your having satisfied the following requirements:

1. Attend all hours of training
2. Complete the CEU form at the workshop
3. Paid yearly ASHA dues (CEU credit is conditionally awarded until ASHA paid dues have been verified)
4. Paid annual ASHA CE Registry Fee

ASHA allows 4 - 5 weeks of processing time for CEU forms. Please contact ASHA for additional questions about applying your attendance at a workshop toward your CEU credits.

While ILP-TD is not specifically certified by individual states as a CEU provider, most states are happy to accept CEU credits from our workshops, as we are approved by ASHA. If you have any questions about whether your state-licensing agency will accept CEUs from an ILP-TD workshop, we recommend that you contact them prior to attending the workshop.

Only attendees of a Compton P-ESL workshop are eligible to make direct purchases of the accent modification training materials. However, through our partnership with Carousel House, assessment tests and related materials are available for purchase.

Individuals desiring to improve their accent and who have financial hardships and/or no direct access to a Compton P-ESL trained speech pathologist can purchase self-study materials directly from Carousel House. Self-study is not as effective as a personalized accent modification program with a Compton P-ESL trained speech professional.
